LOL! Woman Sentenced to Prison for Beating Man She Met Online with a Baseball Bat.

A woman who attacked a man she met online with a baseball bat after luring him to move in with her in Oregon has been sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison.

Haley Fox, 24, pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon last month, according to KPTV
Investigators said that Fox and 26-year-old Samuel Campbell met online two years ago, but had never met in person, the Statesman Journal reports. In April, he agreed to move from Alabama to Oregon to be with her.

When he got there, Fox had set up a table with candles and wineglasses for their first meeting, court documents obtained by KCPQ state. She poured him a glass of wine and then told him to close his eyes before abruptly bashing him on the head with a metal baseball bat.
Campbell survived the attack, but his skull was fractured and he needed nine staples in his head.
Fox initially told investigators that she hit Campbell because she didn't want to be his girlfriend. She said he'd been stalking her and she had no choice but to assault him.

But the thousands of text messages between them told a different story. In those exchanges, Fox never discouraged Campbell's attention. Prosecutors said that Fox led Campbell on because he was sending her money to help with her bills. When he asked for the money back, she invited him to come live with her and then attacked him.

Eventually Fox elected to plead guilty as part of a plea deal. On Wednesday, during a sentencing hearing, Fox said she was sorry for her actions. "I would like to apologize to Mr. Campbell for having hit him," she said. "No one deserves that…. No human being deserves what I did to him, and that's my fault."
Fox was sentenced to five years in prison for the assault and 10 months for the unlawful use of a weapon.
