Andre Ayew on target as Swansea beat Man United 2-1

Swansea City staged a stirring comeback to inflict a first defeat of the season on Manchester United. After the Swans had edged a goalless first half, United took the lead early in the second as Luke Shaw's marauding run and cross set up Juan Mata to blast in from close range. Andre Ayew headed the hosts level after a swift counter-attack as United conceded their first league goal of the season. Ayew then provided a marvellous pass for Bafetimbi Gomis, whose shot squirmed under Sergio Romero to give Swansea a third straight win against United. Having done the double against United for the first time last season, Garry Monk's side became only the sixth team to claim three successive league victories against the Red Devils. For visiting manager Louis van Gaal, a first loss of the campaign was a miserable way to mark his 50th game in charge.

UNITED'S DEFENSIVE FRAGILITY
With both teams protecting unbeaten starts to the season, there was a bristling intensity to the early exchanges.

United had not conceded in their opening three matches, but that record was under threat as Swansea pressed with chances for Gomis and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Daley Blind, a midfielder currently playing at centre-back, offered little resistance as Gomis skipped past him and his central defensive colleague Chris Smalling before clipping the post with a delicate low shot.

Those fragilities were eventually exposed when Ayew and Gomis took advantage of slack marking and dubious goalkeeping to put Swansea ahead.

MONK'S MASTERSTROKE
There may have been a few eyebrows raised when, with his team trailing after 57 minutes, Monk replaced winger Wayne Routledge with midfielder Ki Sung-yueng.

But the switch to a midfield diamond was vindicated after just four minutes as Ashley Williams strode out of defence and freed Sigurdsson, whose precise cross found Ayew for Swansea's equaliser.

The hosts were ahead four minutes later, as Ayew's artful through-ball with the outside of his foot found Gomis, whose low finish beyond Romero sent the Liberty Stadium crowd wild and gave Monk the satisfaction of a tactical alteration paying off in style.

Van Gaal's midfield headache
Marouane Fellaini was brought on to play as a striker with 14 minutes of normal time remaining
United's two changes from the midweek Champions League win at Club Brugge saw Van Gaal recall two of his highest-profile summer signings, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.

That pushed fellow central midfielder Ander Herrera into a more advanced role behind striker Wayne Rooney, but United struggled for fluency.

The one positive was another bright display from Mata but, playing in his unfavoured position wide on the right, he was substituted after 70 minutes.

MAN OF THE MATCH: ANDRE AYEW
The tireless Ghanaian forward was a constant menace, taking his goal well and providing a superb pass for Gomis's winner.

FUNNY! Meet the twin boy aged four who insists he's a girl

Standing side by side, twins Logan and Alfie Symonds couldn’t look more different.
While four-year-old Alfie loves dinosaurs, fire engines and cars, Logan prefers sparkly dresses, wands and Frozen’s Princess Elsa.

But what makes their differences all the more striking is that these two are brothers. While Logan was born a boy, he is so sure he is a girl that mum Emma has taken the incredible step of letting him live as one.

For the past 16 months he has been wearing girl’s shoes and dresses. He even has his nails painted his favourite colour – pink.
It’s not a decision Emma, 33, took lightly.
She said: “At first I was a bit unsure. When he first started saying he was a girl I thought it was just a phase. But he’s never grown out of it.
“It’s still hard to get my head around the fact my son wants to be a girl. But it’s part of our everyday life now.
“There is no explanation for him. Logan is just Logan.”
In fact his love of girly things has taken over their home in Gloucester.
“When I found out I was having twin boys I thought my pink days were over, but it’s gone to the extreme where everything in the house is pink,” says single mum Emma, holding up a pair of pink pyjamas.
“I bet you can guess whose these are.”
As she talks, her four children – Daisy, 10, Charlie, 5, plus Alfie and Logan – are eating dinner.

Aware he is being talked about, Logan runs over in his black patent ballet shoes and High School Musical dress, starts to dance and says: “I’m not a boy.”
Emma laughs: “You can’t call him a boy. A woman said to me the other day, ‘What lovely boys you have’ and Logan piped up saying, ‘I’m not a boy, I’m a girl’.”

From the moment they were born in April 2011 Emma says the non-identical twins were completely different.
“As babies they always had different temperaments. Alfie was more chilled and laid back while Logan was always highly strung. He was very, ‘I’m here, look at me.”

They also preferred different toys. Although, when Logan first reached for the dolls, Emma didn’t think too much of it.
“I have a little girl so I thought Logan was just playing with whatever was there.”
It wasn’t until he was 18 months that Emma realised it might be more serious.

“I’d always dressed them in matching boys’ clothes, like people do with twins. But one day Logan said, “I’m a girl, Mummy, not a boy.”
Shocked, Emma didn’t know what to do and carried on dressing the twins alike. But then Logan’s behaviour changed.
“He became really aggressive and angry. He would lash out whenever I made him wear boy’s clothes.
“If you were stood at the top of the stairs he would push you. He would throw a plate at you. He used to get really angry and throw chairs.”

At first Emma didn’t connect the issues.
“I put all his anger down to some underlying behavioural issue.
“Even when he was saying things like, ‘I’m a girl,’ or ‘I want my willy to fall off,’ I thought it was a phase.
“I was like, ‘You’re a boy, you’re a boy, you’re a boy.’ But then I eventually stopped fighting him over it and he calmed down.”
When Emma bought Logan a pair of ballet shoes his behaviour improved and she gradually bought him more girl’s clothes to wear around the house.

She recalls: “Even a small thing like getting Logan to put his pyjamas on had always been a fight. But once they were girly ones, it all changed.”

At first Emma stopped short of letting him leave the house as a girl.
She says: “But the first thing he would do at nursery is run to the dressing up box and put a Snow White dress on.”

Finally, in May last year, she relented.
“I said fine, if that’s what he wants, let’s see what happens. The first time he went out in a dress he did get funny looks. But I think I noticed them more than Logan. He just walked around proud as anything. He doesn’t care what people say or if they look at him funny.”
Emma says: “They still sleep in the same bed, you can’t separate them. They are so close, but complete opposites.”
For their fourth birthday in April, Emma made Logan a Frozen dress and Alfie wore a Spider-Man costume.

38 virgins killed in bus crash on their way to King of Swaziland's wife choosing ceremony

A road accident in Swaziland has killed 38 girls and seriously injured 20 others who were on their way to a traditional ceremony where King Mswati III can choose a new wife, pro-democracy activists reported.

The accident happened on Friday night when their open truck smashed into a car on the road between the tiny kingdom's two main cities, Mbabane and Manzini, en route to the traditional Reed Dance.

"A total of 38 young girls have been pronounced dead, with more than 20 others seriously injured," Swaziland Solidarity Network spokesman Lucky Lukhele said.

The Swaziland Solidarity Network campaigns for democracy in the landlocked kingdom within South Africa.
"The girls were in an open truck which hit a sedan car stopped on the road," Mr Lukhele said.

The Reed Dance, due to be held on Monday, is a beauty pageant that attracts tens of thousands of young virgins who dance before the polygamist king, who can select one of them as a new wife.
Mswati, Africa's last absolute monarch, chose his 14th wife at the celebration in 2013.
King Mswati said the girls' deaths were a "tragedy in the nation".
"I would like to assure the parents who have lost their loved ones that the nation will support them through and through," the monarch, speaking on the sidelines of a trade fair in Manzini, said.
"Also those in hospitals, should the need arise for further treatment they will be taken to other hospitals to ensure no further loss of life."
Police confirmed there had been "fatalities" but declined to specify the toll, with police spokesman Khulekani Mamba saying: "We won't be giving out any information because the maidens were on royal duty, so there are certain protocols to be followed before such information can be divulged to the public."

Local media gave varying tolls, with government newspaper The Observer reporting hundreds of injuries and the Swazi News saying seven people had been killed, six of them girls.

News of the accident has not been broadcast on public television and journalists were blocked from photographing the crash scene, a local journalist said.

Mswati III has ruled Swaziland as an absolute monarch since his father's death in 1982.

I'm Disappointed In Abedi Pele - Asamoah Gyan

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has sent a response to Ghana legend Abedi Pele on his comments about the negative effect of players shifting their focus to the Arab and Gulf lands.

Gyan expressed disappointment in Abedi’s supposed comments citing that ‘The Maestro’ was one of those who advised him to take the offer from Al Ain because he had also played there.

“I’m surprised about Abedi’s comments. I have played in those countries that he is talking about: Italy, France and England. With my move to Al Ain, he was even instrumental in all of it. He advised me to join them because he had also played there. He further advised me not to pay heed to what Ghanaians will say about my move. And I also felt that for a legend like Abedi, whom I recognize as Ghana’s best player of all time to take a phone to advise me on this was good counsel but for the same person to turn round and grant an interview to say such things, I am really surprised and disappointed in him.” Asamoah Gyan told Kumasi based Angel FM.

This reaction comes in the wake of an interview Abedi Pele granted and reckoned that the influx of Ghanaian footballer to the Arab Land and the Far East was going to be detrimental to the Black Stars in the future.

Miss Malaika 2015 Starts Airing On TV

Since 2003 one beauty pageant has consistently changed the notion of beauty in Ghana.

It has showed to all that beauty is not about the makeup, hair or the clothes. It has shown many that beauty comes from within, a place where you cannot touch up with make-up.

For over a decade, the Miss Malaika Ghana beauty pageant has brought us queens that embodied the Malaika trademark, “beautiful inside out”. For instance the reigning queen Eirene Binabiba embarked on a hand washing campaign in basic schools and is currently on a campaign to encourage reading in schools by distributing hundreds of reading books to some basic schools in Teshie and its surrounding areas.

The projects the Malaika queens embark on could be the reason why over 300 girls turned up at the GhOne TV Studios for the Malaika grand auditions on the 25th of July. Maybe they were drawn by the Car, the Cash, the scholarship and the coveted crown with all its perks and glamour.

Watching the auditions on GhOne TV one could easily tell that the girls were in it for all five reasons, the heartwarming projects, the cash, the car, the scholarship and the coveted crown and title of Miss Malaika Ghana 2015.

So we have all watched the audition episodes and possibly agreed and disagreed with the judges on who they let through and who they sent home, now it’s time to know which of the girls were outstanding enough to survive the tension filled audition room.

If you have enjoyed the audition episodes then brace yourself for more exciting episodes as the Miss Malaika Ghana 2015 series premieres this Sunday on GhOne TV at 8.pm sharp.

It’s going to be a pleasant viewing experience, whilst the ladies will be watching out for the latest fashion, make-up and hair trends the guys will definitely be caught spotting who’s fine and who is not.

The Miss Malaika has exciting content for everyone, so this Sunday tune in to GhOne Entertainment TV at 8 pm for the season premieres of Miss Malaika Ghana 2015.

Miss Malaika Ghana is GhOne Entertainment TV production, powered by Charterhouse with sponsorship from Vaseline, Rexona, Super Malt, Optimal, Sandra Ice cream, Abeam Institute of Technology, Glam Make up, Novelle Beauty College, Sultana and donor support from GTP, Chase, Koko king and shakes and flavors.

ISIS Base At Labadi

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has come under lens of many Ghanaians, especially the security agencies, following reports that the state-run university appears to becoming a fertile ground for recruiting would-be terrorists.

Reports indicate that a house at Palm Wine Junction, La in Accra, is the place where the potential recruits hold regular meetings.

According to a friend of Nazir Nortei Alema, a KNUST graduate who is reported to have joined the deadly terrorist group, Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), he was invited by his friend (Alema) to attend their meetings at La but he turned down the invitation.

The meetings often take place on Wednesdays and Fridays. The potential recruits also occasionally, meet on weekends, according to StarrFMonline.com report.

At least 10 boys, mostly in tertiary institutions, allegedly left Ghana in May 2015 alone to join terror cells in the Middle East, but the security agencies are yet to confirm or deny the claim.

News about the 25-year-old graduate of the KNUST, Nazir Nortei Alema, purportedly joining ISIS recently spread like wild fire and it has attracted both national and international concerns.

The National Security as a result, has reportedly commenced investigations into the recruitment schemes of the would-be terrorists; and the Ghana Police Service Counter Terrorism Unit is deeply involved.

Islamic Extremists

Daily Guide learnt that there is a group of young Muslims at KNUST who express extremist views on campus and Nazir Nortei Alema was said to be a key member.

They are said to be living together in a hostel outside campus and do not allow anybody to easily infiltrate their ranks.

Other private Islamic institutions, especially at the tertiary level, are said to be having students who exhibit extreme religious tendencies towards people who do not share their views.

A key agent allegedly doing the recruitment for the ISIS has already been identified as Badhan Diallo, a Guinean, who was at the University of Ghana but purportedly left to join the terror grouping a few months ago.

The National Security was hit by Daily Guide’s publication of Tuesday (on the alleged departure of Alema), sending security operatives scurrying for details of the story and location of Nazir’s house.

Security experts have concluded that Nazir Nortei Alema’s issue could be a tip of the iceberg because a good number of Muslim youth are ever prepared to join ISIS and other terrorist groups to fight Jihad (Holy War).

KNUST Worry

KNUST authorities have already expressed ‘shock’ and ‘worry’ over the report that Nazir Nortei Alema, who graduated last year with a degree in Geography and Rural Development, has already left to join the ISIS per evidence available to his family.

KNUST spokesperson, Ankamah Lomotey, served notice that the university would investigate the existence of any sects and take swift action on them.

Parents’ Concern

Daily Guide learnt that Muslim parents whose wards are not on KNUST’s traditional hostels are becoming worried over the latest revelations.

One parent reportedly withdrew her daughter from the university recently when she realized that the daughter appeared to exhibit extremist tendencies.

Widespread Phenomenon

A lecturer at KNUST who is a Muslim, has told Daily Guide on condition of anonymity that “It is really a fact that it is a widespread phenomenon. The youth appear ready to join ISIS and others, judging from the interactions we have with them on the various platforms, particularly social media.

“It is becoming like a passion among the so-called various youth for those who want to portray commitment to the religion.”

“As a patron of the local religious group, the student association, we tend to observe these sorts of things when we are engaged in orientation with these boys. They kind of portray extremist zeal and appear to exhibit fanaticism.”

Brainwashed Youth

He said, “They always give us hell of a time for us to really educate them about the position that what they are standing for is myopic and utopian and cannot find space in contemporary times,” as they are said to have been brainwashed.

“There are a whole lot of instances that abound that some of us encounter when we meet these student groups. They tend to express their attraction towards groups such as the ISIS,” the lecturer underscored.

Ghanaian Isis Recruit Tried To Convert Me – Friend

A friend of the Ghanaian who is believed to have joined Isis has revealed that Nazir Nortei Alema tried to convince him to join the group too.

According to the friend whose name has been withheld for security reasons, the 25-year-old sent him audios and videos of the group in his bid to convert him.

Nazir Nortei Alema, a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has thrown his family into a massive discomfort, as he is believed to have joined the bloodthirsty group in Iraq and Syria.

With a degree in Geography and Rural Development, he is one of the 10 suspected Muslim youth from Ghana who have finally taken the decision to join the terrorist grouping, whose stock-in-trade is public beheading of their opponents or those they regard as infidels.

Speaking to Kojo Yankson on Accra-based Joy FM on Wednesday, his crony intimated that Nortei Alema’s brains have been washed completely by the Isis.

“I started engaging him on Facebook and later we began talking. I told him to tell me about what he knows about Isis since he kept posting things and promoting their agenda on social media. Later on, we began talking and he started sending me books and videos about the militant group in an attempt to convert me.

“From our interaction, I realised that he had many things going wrong with his understanding of the Quran. He was always quoting the Quran out of context and you could realise that he has been massively brainwashed by the group,” he said.

The boat took off around 11 p.m. from Marina del Rey, Calif., and set off an impressive fireworks show at midnight.
